As a member of The Intelligent Investor, you know that successful value investors equip themselves with the right mental wiring. Buying stocks cheaply often means standing apart from the crowd. And it’s not always easy laying your hard-earned savings on the line when others tell you your analysis is wrong and that you’re making a big mistake. But even if your frame of mind is sound, there are precious few resources for budding Buffetts to find explanations of key investment concepts and tools written for the intelligent layman.
That’s why we regularly produce the Investor's College series that now contains more than 150 articles (although we generally recommend beginning from issue 80), which you can work through at your own pace. Investing isn’t rocket science, but having the right tools and sound judgment are mandatory requirements for successful stock picking. Don't take your value investing library for granted, your financial future depends on it.
Time to load up?
The share prices of Australia’s big four banks peaked in late 2007. Since then, Commonwealth Bank has dropped 43%, National Australia 54%, ANZ 49% and Westpac 39%, and that’s after April’s huge rally. Is this the time to load up on these venerable cash machines?
We think not. After raising concerns for a number of years, we’ve taken the controversial step of issuing sell recommendations on the big four banks. In light of this major decision, we've put together a special package for members including a special report on the big banks, an online forum and a dedicated podcast. This package provides essential reading (and listening) for any investor who owns shares in Australia’s big four.
